Our client is a small affordable housing provider, committed to providing high quality homes to communities in South London and Surrey. To enable them to meet their small yet targeted ambition to build new homes, they are looking for an experienced Development Manager to join them on a part time basis.
This is a fairly unusual opportunity for an experienced candidate to come into the organisation in a completely new role and take ownership of the organisation's development function. On this basis, we are seeking applications from individuals who are very strong in all elements of the development process, from new business, taking sites through planning and then getting them on site to handover.
Key aspects of this role will involve:
- Undertaking financial appraisals of potential developments using ProVal
- Submitting bids for new opportunities which are competitive but also viable for the organisation
- Writing board reports and presenting to senior management on the progress of bids and projects on site
- Getting schemes into planning and managing projects on site
Schemes will range in size from 1-20 units at any one time, primarily shared ownership / S106 agreements, so we are seeking somebody who is comfortable in managing schemes of this size and understands how the organisation can viably develop new homes in an extremely competitive market. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the pressures of being a small house builder and a creative eye to be able to build the relationships which will enable the organisation to meet their growth aspirations.
The role is part time - 2 to 3 days per week - and provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to come on board and really take control of the organisation's programme in an organisation which offers a great working culture and competitive package.
If you meet the criteria above and are looking for a part time role where you can showcase your expertise, please get in touch for an initial discussion.
