Development Manager (Client Side)

A constituent of the G15, backed by almost a century of experience, our client - one of the largest Housing Associations in the London/South East region - seeks two Development Managers to assist in the delivery of one of London's most significant regeneration programs.

With 1,600 residential units to be delivered across two sites, comprising a range of tenures, as well as commercial and retail assets, these developments are of a scale and complexity so as to offer a challenge to even experienced development professionals.

The first of the two sites (with an earmarked total of 1,000 units) is already live, at phase two of four, requiring a delivery-focused Development Manager (potentially from a Project Management background) to oversee the delivery of the remaining 600 units. Comprising both affordable and private sale, as well as a number of commercial units, delivery and a strong command of both cost and time management will be critical.

The second site, still at the pre-construction phase, has a planning application pending, which the successful applicant will guide, ensuring the scheme reaches site without any significant concessions. The proposal also comprises 200+ PRS-units, offering the successful applicant exposure to this burgeoning area of the market. Post-planning, the focus will shift to the delivery of 600 residential units, incorporating a 16-storey tower: as such, any experience of delivering tower structures would serve the applicant well.

For either role, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • A construction/development related degree
  • A demonstrable track record of successfully delivering large-scale regeneration schemes (300+ units) spanning at least 3 years
  • Either an RICS/CIOB/RTPI accreditation
  • Strong commercial awareness; the ability to critique and modify financial appraisals; cost & quality control; timescale and risk management; ability to forecast and respond to obstacles to successful completion

For the more 'front-end' role, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • The ability to ability to steer the planning proposal, ensuring success

PLEASE NOTE: there is no requirement for applicants to hail from an HA background. Candidates from a private sector background are encouraged to apply, though the ideal would be a fusion of the two exposures.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience.
