Quantity Surveyor (Interim)

My London based client is looking for an Interim Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team on a range of construction projects ranging from RIBI stage 0 through to 6. The client acts as a Development & Construction Manager, providing innovative solutions for Strategic Property And Community Enhancement (SPACE) across Property portfolios.

You will be part of the Commercial Management team, primarily within the Construction Management part of the business. You will be responsible for a small commercial team who will report to you. You will be based either in the project offices on one of our larger sites or in one of our offices or spending your time between these locations to suit the role.

The Role

Reporting to a Group Commercial Director you will be responsible for the successful commercial delivery on projects. This includes the following:-

  • Procurement of trade contractors and consultants
  • Settling and preparation of contract documentation
  • Cost plans and budget preparation and management
  • Be the commercial link with the client's commercial team
  • Preparation of monthly cost report and forecasting
  • Risk management
  • Providing support to the Project Director
  • Contract administration
  • Chairing commercial meetings and minutes
  • Budget management
  • Participation in the commercial management group

Who are you?

  • You have a demonstrable track record of the successful commercial delivery of projects
  • You have good all round technical knowledge of construction
  • You will have experience of the pre-construction stages as well as construction stage
  • You will have current understanding of relevant procedures and construction case law
  • You are numerate, capable of producing accurate work with attention to detail
  • Able to manage, supervise and mentor team members
  • Ability to work as part of a team at a variety of levels
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • You are a real team player, with a great attitude to helping and supporting colleagues
  • Process focused, with the ability to learn new skills and adopt technology platforms quickly
  • Someone who is comfortable in a busy environment, but also self-motivated as the role often requires you to work on your own
  • Extremely organised, flexible and adaptable; managing an ever-changing and busy workload
  • Someone who is happy to work with people at all levels; with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You will demonstrate the ability to build robust, long term relationships and high-performance teams
  • First impressions last so you'll need to be well presented and organised with good communication skills
  • At least 10 year's relevant industry experience
  • Experience of major construction projects in a number of sectors (£25M plus)
  • Professional membership of RICS (MRICS) or CIOB (MCIoB)
  • Full UK driving licence required
