Senior Chartered Building Surveyor - Buckinghamshire

A highly regarded construction consultancy based in Buckinghamshire are looking to add a Chartered Building Surveyor to their team due to a succession of large instructions.

As an inter-disciplinary firm, they provide a comprehensive range of professional services covering all aspects of the design and building process - both for new build and refurbishment projects. Their clients range from large blue chip companies, public bodies, small companies and private individuals. All clients are joined in their appreciation of the personal working relationships they develop to create mutual benefit for current and future projects.

Duties & Responsibilities;

  • Undertake building surveys, condition surveys and pre-acquisition surveys; and, prepare relevant survey reports
  • Undertake inspections of and advise on property defects together with proposed remedial works
  • Undertake surveys and prepare schedules of condition
  • Advise on the procurement of construction consultants necessary for the successful completion of projects; and, co-ordinate and liaise with the same
  • Carry out all elements of contract administration to include pre and post contract services
  • Prepare and serve party wall notices; and, prepare, negotiate where necessary and serve party wall awards on appointing owners

Technical knowledge you'll be expected to provide will be the following;

  • Building & Pre-acquisition Surveys
  • Condition Surveys
  • Building Pathology / Defects Surveys
  • Schedules of Condition
  • Party Wall Surveying
  • Dilapidations Assessment & Negotiation
  • Area Measures (GEA, GIA & NIA)
  • Measured surveys & Lease Plans
  • First Schedules
  • Design & Specification (including all statutory consents)
  • Planning and Building Regulations Applications
  • Alterations, Refurbishment & Repairs
  • Contract Administration & Employers Agent
  • Project Management

The post holder should:

  • Be able to demonstrate critical awareness
  • Be able to work accurately under pressure
  • Have a logical and practical approach
  • Have knowledge of how buildings and spaces are used
  • Have a good eye for detail
  • Have good project management and coordination skills
  • Be able to keep within financial budgets and to achieve project deadlines
  • Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Have excellent presentation skills
  • Have comprehensive IT skills

Salary - £35,000 - £55,000
